Dr. Joel Alcantara B.Sc., D.C.


Dr. Alcantara, I.C.P.A. Research Director holds the record for publishing the most case studies in our profession and has brought his enthusiasm and passion for research to our organization. He is spearheading numerous projects for the I.C.P.A including a Practiced Based Research Network.

Dr. Alcantara brings this expertise of publishing case studies and is involving members of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association in this publishing. His commitment to publishing will surely draw recognition and validity to the necessity of chiropractic care for pregnant women and children.

Additionally, Dr. Alcantara is dedicated to working with each and every Diplomate Candidate to assist them in accomplishing their Pediatric diplomate requirement for publication in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Alcantara was born in the Philippines and grew up in Calgary, Alberta. Prior to attending Chiropractic College, he was trained in Chemistry-Biochemistry and Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology at the University of Calgary. Upon graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in 1995, he was given a full-time faculty appointment at his alma mater in the Research Department.

In the last two years, he held the rank of Assistant Professor at Life Chiropractic College West. During his tenure at both chiropractic colleges, he has taught an array of subjects from Chiropractic Pediatrics, Physical Diagnosis, Research Methods, Public Health and various chiropractic clinical courses. He has published widely in scientific journals and in the popular chiropractic media and has co-authored several chapters in various chiropractic textbooks.

Presently, Dr. Alcantara is completing his Master of Public Health degree at San Jose State University with a specialty in Community Health Education. He remains committed to teaching, research and service, particularly in the field of pediatric chiropractic.
