The Newest Pathways
Stress:
Chiropractors have been saying that the stresses we are subjected
to
directly affect our nervous system and therefore our health and well-being. This
study from
Australia identifies the relationship between stress, our nerve system immune
system and sickness. http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2005-12/ra-sre112905.php
Although they conclude with a solution of developing a drug for immune system function, Doctors of Chiropractic conclude that since there is such an interconnected communication between the nerve and immune system, reducing nerve system stress with chiropractic is a safer way to enhance immune system function. Read the literature on the effects of chiropractic care on immune system function here: http://www.icpa4kids.org/research/chiropractic/immune.htm
Chiropractors
have also always recognized that physical, emotional and chemical stress
affects the spine and nerve system. Here is an interesting study
demonstrating the relationship between stress in childhood to "bad backs"
later in life.

As parents, we need to make lifestyle choices that reduce the physical, emotional and chemical stresses in our families' lives. In today's hectic paces, some of these stresses are unavoidable. Chiropractic is a form of care that helps reduce the effects these stresses have on our nervous system. Regular, chiropractic care for the whole family is one way to combat the effects of stress and support the Family Wellness Lifestyle.
Breastfeeding:
Longer Breast-Feeding Lowers Risk of Diabetes
The risk for developing diabetes is reduced with longer
duration of breastfeeding, according to the results of two large cohort studies
published in the Nov. 23/30 issue of JAMA.
"Longer duration of breastfeeding was associated with reduced incidence
of type 2 diabetes in two large US cohorts of women," the authors write. "Lactation
may reduce risk of type 2 diabetes in young and middle-aged women by improving
glucose homeostasis... Further clinical studies are needed to confirm this
finding and to elucidate the physiologic mechanisms for an inverse association
between duration of breastfeeding and risk of type 2 diabetes."
